The loneliness epidemic is real.
And it’s proven to have negative effects on both public health and civic discourse.
We believe the solution begins through stories shared around the table—it’s why God gave us a table at the center of Christian worship.
When you partner with Edible Theology, you get to be part of the solution to the division and isolation that are tearing us apart.
Edible Theology Project spent the past year developing our Worship at the Table program, helping churches gather around the table to study meals in Scripture, in Christian tradition, and in their own lives. By gathering groups around the table week after week, the program meets the basic need for food and community that everybody shares. Once individuals begin to share stories about the foods and meals that are most meaningful to them, they also start sharing stories about family, about home, about the very topics that help them feel known, valued, and loved. The trust built through sharing these stories then equips the community to enter into more complex conversations about the political and cultural differences that threaten to divide.
We need your help getting this program into the churches who need it most!
Over the next year, we will release a suite of programs to help you facilitate hard conversations around the table.
Programs include:
Table Conversations podcast, modeling our method at work
An album of unique songs for you to use at your table gathering
Worship at the Table facilitator training to help you get the most out of the curriculum
Live gatherings for pastors to introduce our method and curriculum, preparing churches to use the program in the build-up to the forthcoming general election
Using our three-step method to storytelling and community building through food, we’ll provide you with the tools to address the isolation and polarization wreaking havoc on our world.
We would love for you to experience Edible Theology at work around the table.
We are currently hosting fundraising dinners in cities across the United States to meet new donors eager to support our mission.
